OSHA’s Final Rule: Electronic Injury Reporting

OSHA recently issued its Final Rule to Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses which requires electronic submission of injury and illness data and new requirements for employers to inform employees on how to report work-related injuries and illnesses and be free from retaliation.  To ensure compliance, employers will need to make significant changes by the most immediate effective date of August 10, 2016.

Daniel Deller will explain the final rule’s requirements including:

  • When you must submit your electronic injury and illness records to OSHA
  • The implications of OSHA posting your injury records on their public website
  • The types of notice you must provide your employees of their right to report work-related injuries and illnesses and be free from retaliation
  • How the new rule affects your:
    o   Employee Accountability Policies
    o   Drug and Alcohol Policies
    o   Safety Incentive Programs

Daniel Deller is a Consultant and owner of Progressive Safety Management, a consulting firm.  Mr. Deller has over 15 years of combined construction, project management, and occupational safety and health experience.  He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Safety and Health, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), is a Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), and is an Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer.  Currently, Mr. Deller is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers Body of Knowledge Committee and serves as the President Elect of the American Society of Safety Engineers Tarheel Chapter.
