Location: Gastonia, NC area (limited relocation assistance provided)
Must have at least 5 years of industrial safety and health (minimal environmental compliance) and workers compensation experience within fast paced manufacturing operations along with the ability to be a safety change agent. This position will provide safety leadership, guidance and technical support for an (800) employee, non-union manufacturing facility. The role will manage (1) Safety Coordinator and report into a Corporate Risk/Safety Manager with a strong dotted line into the site Director of Manufacturing.
Technical skill set must include hands-on/tactical approach to safety, ability to build, revamp and drive safety management systems, processes & performance (safety metrics), workers compensation case management, industrial hygiene, machine guarding/LOTO, ergonomics, training and employee development, new machine safety, auditing and accident investigations. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Personality traits must include being a good communicator, self-motivated, efficient, confident in beliefs, ability to change fast and adapt quickly to new situations.
Key Requirements include:
- 5 years of diverse plant level safety and health leadership experience
- Bachelor degree in Safety or related technical field

Must have at least 6 years of progressive experience building safety, health and environmental programs within a manufacturing organization. This position will lead the strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive EHS program for (2) plants, totaling (700) non-union employees (will split time evenly between plants). This role will be the technical EHS lead for the sites in creating a positive safety and environmental culture. Build solid programs and educate employees through training initiatives. Report directly into the Division Director of HR with a strong dotted line to the Corporate Director of EHS with the parent company. Emphasis on safety (80%), however, the candidate must have general environmental compliance knowledge.
Expertise must include ability to develop sustainable EHS systems/programs, employee training and development, ergonomics, establish goals and metrics, lead audit program and environmental compliance (ESOP and related permitting requirements). Ability to be a key culture change agent and experience in turnaround situations highly preferred.
