Poster Contest Winners Announced

On behalf of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Tarheel Chapter, I would like to thank you for participating in the 8th Annual ASSE kids’ “safety-on-the-job” poster contest for children aged 5-14. ASSE received posters from children in 34 states in the U.S. and from six countries -- Australia, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, India and Kuwait.

The Tarheel Chapter is pleased to announce the winners of our Local Chapter contest including a student (s) from your school. These students who are identified with this notification will receive a framed certificate and a small gift in recognition of their accomplishment.

We also would like to invite these students to attend, as spectators, the 32nd Annual Fire & Life Safety Bowl, an academic competition between 4th and 5th graders who will be quizzed on a variety of fire & life safety topics which will take place on Thursday March 18, 2010 at the Oasis Shrine Facility located at 604 Doug Mays Place, Charlotte, NC.

If arrangements can be made for your student winner(s) to attend the awards ceremony please respond to safety@cms.k12.nc.us or call 980-343-5156 with the correct spelling of the student (s) name and the name(s) of those who will accompany the student. Certificates and the small gift will be mailed to those students who are unable to attend.

Due to the nature of the Fire & Life Safety Bowl competition an exact time for the presentation of awards can not be determined. We anticipate the awards ceremony will take place before the Championship Round at or near 1:00 PM.

Please confirm with us if you plan to attend and more details will be provided.

And Congratulations to your School’s Award Winner!

The program also serves as a comprehensive strategic plan and model for the chapter. The awards currently given under the CSRP are the Chapter Stars Recognition Award (CSRA) and the American Society of Safety Engineers Chapter of the Year award. Both awards are based on activities of the Chapter during each Chapter year (July 1 to June 30) captured through the Chapter Stars Recognition Program process.
